Can we monitor to prevent any bad thing from happening in Hong Kong?

Honestly, we know we are working with a lot of ramdomity in life. In business, we are dealing with changes in the economic environment, changes of needs and wants of customers, technology changes that any executive needs to be “a tough tiger” to steer the company to be able to win for the survival of the business. For other demands of life, like our family, our community, our social and political environment, we are always facing constant challenges that perfect solution is not always handy in all various circumstances.

In due course, some bad things may happen to ourselves and others beyond our expectation or our prior knowledge or solution on the subject concerned.

However, one thing I notice that whenever any bad things happened in our community no matter within our government or in our social or business sector (while we may be still in shock of receiving such bad news), most of the time our first response or the first question we will ask in Hong Kong is: "why is there no one or no organization monitor this to prevent it from happening?" or simply directly accuse any related personnel or organization of his failure to monitor to cause the catastrophe; as if the victim himself had assigned his own personal responsibility or function to monitor his own activities to someone else who needed to be responsible for what had happened to him.

It is easier to criticize someone else for the failure of his monitoring job. But before we could make such criticism, don’t you think we also fail to monitor the person to be criticized so he can do a better monitoring job that no tragedy of any kind could possibly happen in the first place. Here, I don’t mean the person to be criticized has no responsibility of any kind but there could be something more than that.

It seems like that if we could find someone who is able to monitor, inspect all the outpoints in all various circumstances, able to know the tragedy before it happen, could take action to do something about it and save us from any tragedy, then we will live in a perfect community without any crime, injustice and insanity. Such personnel is therefore doing the proper job of "monitoring".

But is it the right question to open the door for the solution of our problems? In other words, is it the “right why” on why bad thing happened? If this is the “right why”, then we should be able to appoint a perfect person or organization that can do a perfect monitoring job all the time. Otherwise, we are still not able to prevent any bad things from happening if we cannot find such personnel or organization.

So what is the solution in preventing any bad thing from happening to us?

The solutions can be simply by increasing the intelligence of each individual being, improving the sanity of each individual being so he or she can act and decide rationally and raising his or her own abilities to monitor his own activities and others.

Without building the basics of each individual being but depending on a super star or a single perfect person or organization, we are still far away from improving our community by preventing any bad things from happening.

The solution is therefore to raise your own abilities and help others to raise their abilities.

Abilities is the solution to prevent any bad things from happening. Our community counts on the abilities of each of us, but not solely on a single person. With abilities from each of us, we have better observation, decide and act better for the greatest good to the greatest number of people concerned that will definitely reduce our chance of getting tragedy or failure. As such, the future of Hong Kong will be full of hope.

More about my 2009 New Year Resolution for Hong Kong

On the first day of 2009, I looked at the current scene of Hong Kong and wrote down my ten resolutions for the ideal state of the community of Hong Kong.

Here I would like to elaborate more what I meant on some of my resolutions on my last post:

(1) "Your own right of sanity"

What is the optimal state of mind? Sound, rational and perfect like what we have dreamed up what a perfect computer can do for us. If everyone could have his or her optimal state of mind, you can imagine we have peace on earth.

However, as we all know, our optimal state of mind living in this environment is subject to many influence and some are negative impact to make our mind less rational, cause us pain and agony. Look at many news of crazy behavior reported on the newspapers, many irrational behavior of people around us and possibly including ourselves, there is such a huge divergence of our current condition of existence with the ideal state of minds.

But we know we can be better and more able by fixing the bugs to return a better state of mind if we could and know how; unless we don't believe we have an optimal state of mind to begin with or simply with a hopeless viewpoint man cannot be helped to be better.

In other words, we have our own right of sanity--own right to have our own optimal state of mind. Like if you have purchased any computer, you as a owner have the right to demand it function properly without any bugs and it is able to produce the correct answer whenever you request it to do so. And if the computer does not perform, you can ask for technical support to fix this for you.

If you own your mind, you have your own right of sanity. If any practice or healing which is not going to help us to achieve or close to our optimal state of mind, but make it even worse to make you more stupid or more wrong and tries to make you believe that you are simply getting worse and worse that nothing can be done about it, it itself has deprived your own right of sanity.

When we talk about "human rights", we should expand the definition to include "your own right of sanity". Sane people make sane society. If the right of sanity of people is not protected by any society, the right of religion, the right of speech, the right of press and the right to choose your own form of government are built on shaky ground.

If we could protect our own right of sanity and are able to know how to achieve better state of mind, the other aspects of human rights will be easily protected and used it in a right direction to build a society where we can live with peace and harmony.

The state of mind determines the state of any community, society and country.

Then you see why it is important that you have your own right of sanity with the goals of achieving better state of mind.

(2) "Your own right to play and leave the game" ( Please also refer to my earlier post about "What have been violated to be the victim of financial Tsunami?"; where I discussed games and right to play and leave the game )

Once you have own right to play and leave the game, it is easier for you to dream and make your dreams to come true as a player.

I always like to dream with lots of imagination at least in my own universe. I like what I see in my own universe and hope they can come true in this physical universe. So when come to the time in making new dream or resolution, I always will not let it go without making my wishes.

I count how many dreams I have eventually come true. Some do. Some don't. I am happy to see some come true. And sometimes I am happy to see some don't come true as well; as I see that it's not something I mean it anyway. So don't take it so serious about when they all need to come true or why some do not happen in your time frame yet. Please treat your dreams with "Spirits of Play"! They did come true at the moment when I dream of as they're so real in my own universe. I can look it again and ask myself whether I really want this dream to come true or not. If I really desire so and as long as I persist, I know they will eventually come true. If it is not really something I want, I can wipe this out and make another dream or resolution.

Don't underestimate the power of yourself to bring something come true in this physical universe. It all depends on your own ideas or imagination and your persistence to make many things possible. So don't lose your hope or simply give up to make any resolution in your life to live day by day. Your future depends on the resolution you make today for yourself and others.

You may also see here why the human rights can be protected on the ground that we can dream and make our dreams come true by having the right to play or leave the game too.

I really hope you do well!

My 2009 New Year Resolution for Hong Kong

After the dramatic change in our global economy in 2008, what will our future look like?

We hope we can rewind the time machine to put us back to the prosperity years of 2004-2007 when having dreams of making many expansions possible.

Yet, these past postulated prosperity and expansion included many “bounced back particles” as the wealth creation was not simply based on production but on speculation in flipping assets, leveraged investment products in a pyramid scheme and easy credits without any proper regulation from many governments, in particular, the U.S. government. The suffering and damages we see today are the results of greed, unethical conducts and a lot of untruth and unworkable ideas in money management and wealth creation; that destroyed our dreams of prosperity and expansion.

If we really dream our economy to flourish and prosper, we need to have better resolutions by making our economy to be able to deliver valuable products and services in abundant exchange with each other domestically and internationally. Wealth should be created with valuable production and saving (at least ten percent of your income is set aside for saving), but not “quick money making scheme”.

Here are my New Year resolutions for Hong Kong to share with you:

(1) Our economy is based on the production of valuable product and services across many industries.

(2) Our policies making are based on the greatest good to the greatest number of people concerned, but not only for the interest of certain niche of the community.

(3) People can help and respect the rights of each other as a citizen per the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

(4) People have better tolerance and understanding with each other though having different political or religious viewpoints. ( Whenever there is any conflict, find out who behind the scene to start the fight by saying bad to each party to cause the conflict to be unresolvable , otherwise, any conflict can be handled by communication and understanding without the use of any violence.)

(5) People can look and observe better with improved abilities.

(6) Students go to the school with the purposes of really learning how to learn, how to improve their perception and abilities and know how to be a better citizen without the sole purpose of getting good grades.

(7) Parents know how to raise their children without breaking their own self-determinism but with enough guidance and care to help them to be aware of the traps of life.

(8) People have their own right of sanity that we can raise and improve our mental awareness and health if any means to be employed, otherwise, the risks of such means in making us worse should be made known.

(9) Our society is run by justice and discipline. We should not simply throw our judgment to accuse anyone or any organization without any prior impartial fact finding and evidence. Anyone who felt injustice should have the proper channel to readdress the wrongness.

(10) Any person can dream and make his dream come true.

I hope you share and agree with my resolution.

Let us make the above resolutions come true to have a better Hong Kong for us and our next generation.
